Resurgent year for the former NCAA champ after falling out of the Top 200 in +95...Qualified at Australian Open and reached 3rd RD before losing four-setter to Agassi...It marked the first time since Cincinnati in +93 that he had won consecutive Tour-level matches...Qualified five times during the year, reaching 2nd RD in Key Biscayne (d. Shelton), Queen's (d. Vacek) and Indianapolis (d. Dewulf) in addition to 3rd RD in Melbourne...Also enjoyed Challenger success, winning Lexington for second career title...Followed with QF in Binghamton...Also reached Urbana final (l. to Gimelstob) in September to climb back inside Top 150.
