  • Turned pro in 1982 after becoming the first three-time All-America at Clemson University from 1980-82. He is known for wearing a cap when playing outdoors and for his deliberate serving routine that includes repeated ball bouncing before unleashing a deceptively powerful serve.

He took up tennis at age eight and was tutored by his father, who played at Florida State University.

He has been hampered by knee injuries and in 1987 at Boston, he played painfully in a second round match against Andres Gomez, losing a third-set tiebreaker.

Earned a career-high $214,590 in 1984 when he won his first two Grand Prix titles at Houston and Toulouse. Finished at No. 35 on the ATP computer rankings, his best year-end effort.

Mark is currently the director of the Mark Dickson Tennis Academy in Sarasota, FL.

Mark resides in Sarasota, Florida with his wife, Karen, daughter, Kristi and son, Kevin.
