Began playing tennis at age seven...Mother, Catalina, is a housewife; father, Zenon, is a tennis coach. Has an older brother, Marco, and a younger sister, Kathy...Won his first challenger title at Salinas, Ecuador in March 2002. Also has three ITF Futures titles.
As a junior played on the South American circuit and was a member of an ITF 16 and Under touring team which came to Europe...Enjoys going out, discos, listening to music, particularly rock.
