Captured the Wimbledon Junior Doubles title and was a semifinalist at the Orange Bowl tournament in 1984. He was the No. 1 junior doubles player in the world in 1984. He earned doubles All-America honors (w/Kelly Jones) at Pepperdine University in 1985 and ranked No. 4 in the country in doubles before turning pro. Earned a career-high $37,416 and ranked No. 286 in singles, No. 77 in doubles in 1989. Also reached two doubles finals with Jaime Yzaga. A member of the Mexican Davis Cup team since 1987 and participant in the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, losing to Edberg in the second round. Qualified in four Grand Slams in the last two years (1988-89).
