After winning three USTA National Junior doubles titles (with future ATP members Brian Teacher, Bill Maze and David Bohrnstedt), Sherbeck played at the University of Utah from 1974 to 1978. He reached the quarterfinals of the mixed doubles at Wimbledon in 1979 and has been a teaching professional at The Palisades Tennis Club in Newport Beach, California for a number of years. Married to the former Denys Oberman, he enjoys hiking and golf and his brother Eric also played on the ATP circuit.
