In his 11 year career, Kinnear recorded wins over five world #1 doubles teams as well as singles victories over Rafter and Philippoussis. Began playing tennis at age seven. Attended Clemson (SC) University from 1984-88 graduating with a bachelor's degree in administrative management. He was an All-American in 1987 and named to the ACC 50th Anniversary Team. Turned pro in 1988. A member of the 1985 USTA Junior Davis Cup team. Captured his first career ATP Tour doubles title in 1991, in Brasilia (w/R. Smith). Later that year, captured his first career Challenger singles title in Puebla (Mexico), defeating local favorite Luis Herrera. In 1992, won his second Challenger title in Perth. Compiled his best pro season in 1992 as he reached four ATP Tour finals, including three in succession (Scottsdale, Indian Wells, Key Biscayne) with Sven Salumaa. Finished a career-best No. 36 in doubles after reaching No. 24 in August and earned a career-high $116,919. Personal: Currently resides in Champaign, IL where he is assistant men's tennis coach at the University of Illinois...Worked for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for two years following his retirement from the ATP Tour...Founded KBall Tennis, a company devoted to junior player development...Starting in 2001, partnered with former ATP pro David Wheaton to form Wheaton/Kinnear Tennis Events...Wife, Happy...Daughter Anika (2004).
