    into the top 100 for the first time on March 20, 1989 after finishing runner-
    up at the Agadir Ch. He reached back-to-back finals at Casablanca and Agadir
    Chs.
    Defeated Kent Carlsson in the first round and Jose-Luis Clerc at Rome in
    in May 1989 to reach his first Grand Prix quarterfinal.
    Member of the Dutch Davis Cup team from 1988-present.
    Captured his first career singles title at Athens in 1990 while finish-
    ing a career year-end best No. 48 on the ATP Tour computer. Also earned a
    career-high $202,883.
    Won his first career doubles title at Estoril (w/Haarhuis) in April 1991
