    Turned pro in 1992.
    Began playing tennis at age 10.
    Enjoyed an outstanding collegiate career at the Univ. of California-
    Berkeley where he captured the NCAA doubles title twice (w/Pedersen). Played
    from 1988-92 and earned doubles all-America honors in 1990-91 and singles
    in 1992 when he finished No. 11 in the collegiate rankings. He was the No. 1
    doubles player in the country in 1990-91 when he won back-to-back NCAA titles
    with Doug Eisenman in '90 and Bent-Ove Pedersen in '91. Did not drop a set
    in 10 matches during both years.
    Studied political science.
    Reached the U.S. Open quarterfinals in 1991 (w/Pedersen) in his second
    career Grand Slam tournament, only to lose to eventual winners Fitzgerald-
    Jarryd in four sets.
    Enjoys hunting, fishing and water skiing.
    Favorite surface is hardcourt and considers volley as best shot.
    Captured his first career Grand Slam title at the U.S. Open in 1995,
    teaming with Meredith McGrath to win the mixed doubles crown.
