All-American at the University of Tennessee in 1981-82. His father,
Mike, Sr., is the coach at Tennessee, traditionally one of the best college
teams in the nation.
Enjoyed his best pro season in 1985 when he earned a career-high
$101,483. He ranked No. 83 on the ATP computer, his third top 100 finish
and won doubles titles at Vienna and Livingston.
In December 1986, he teamed with Gary Donnelly to reach the Masters semi
finals in London, losing to eventual champions Stefan Edberg and Anders
Jarryd.
His best year-end singles ranking was No. 51 in 1982, his first year on
the tour.
