South African-born Briton Neil Broad won seven ATP doubles titles (7-17 record) and a silver medal (w/ Tim Henman) at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics (l. to Woodbridge-Woodforde). He made his Davis Cup debut for Great Britain against France in January 1992, playing a further 10 ties (1992, 1995-2000) amassing a 4-7 doubles record. He reached the semi-finals at 1990 Australian Open (w/Gary Muller) and quarter-finals at 1997 Australian Open, 1997 Wimbledon and 1998 US Open (all w /Piet Norval). Broad qualified for the ATP Tour World Doubles Championships in 1990 (w/Muller) and served as an alternate pair (w/Norval) in 1996. He retired in June 2000, having ranked in the year-end Top 50 doubles rankings on six occasions (1989-91, 1996-98). Broad began playing tennis aged 10 and also enjoyed cricket, golf (handicap nine) and rugby. He turned pro in 1986 after attending Texas Christian University in Fort Worth for 2 � years, where he earned all-America honours and majored in business. He focused on doubles from 1991.
