Had a strong start, going 20-11 in singles before the French Open and reaching five SF...Started season with SF in Adelaide (l. to Kafelnikov) and Auckland (l. to Novak) to move within Top 40 in the rankings...After going 4-5, reached Bermuda SF (l. to Filippini) to start an 11-4 stretch, which included SF appearances in Pinehurst (l. to Wilander) and Coral Springs (l. to Woodruff) and a QF effort in Atlanta (l. to Alami)...Finished season 14-7 on clay...In doubles, finished No. 93.
