    Began playing tennis at age four with his parents, who in 1968 came from
    Praha, Czechoslovakia to Switzerland. Mother, Anna, was one of the top Swiss
    tennis players and she participated in the Olympic Games in Grenoble in 1968.
    The Swiss junior champion in 1983 and winner of the Swiss Open national
    championships in 1994.
    Considers backhand as best shot and favorite surface is slow,hardcourts.
    Hobbies include English literature, all different sports and following
    the business trade industry.
    Turned pro in 1992.
    Named to the Swiss Peugeot World Team Cup squad in 1996.
