Carlos Alcaraz is back at Wimbledon and back with a familiar face in his surroundings.
Three days on from winning his second title at Queen’s Club, Alcaraz reunited with coach Juan Carlos Ferrero on Wednesday at Aorangi Park. During the Spaniard's run at the ATP 500 event in west London, Samuel Lopez was present as the main coach.
The two-time defending champion at SW19, Alcaraz is riding an 18-match winning streak — the longest of his career — after capturing titles in Rome and at Roland Garros, where he defeated rival Jannik Sinner in the final. The 22-year-old is aiming to join Bjorn Borg (1978-80) as the only men in the Open Era to achieve the Roland Garros-Wimbledon double in consecutive years.
Although he can’t catch Sinner for the World No. 1 spot during the Wimbledon fortnight, Alcaraz is aiming to extend his 2,240-point lead atop the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin, which serves as an indicator as to who will claim the coveted ATP Year-End No. 1 presented by PIF honours.
